Indian troops allegedly shelled border villages across the Line of Control in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Haveli district on Monday morning, leaving an elderly man dead and five others injured including a woman and her son. According to a report, district Haveli’s Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Kashif Hussain said that Indian troops resorted to shelling at about 6am in Nezapir and Digwar sectors, using both small and heavy arms. He said that shelling had so far left a 70-year-old man identified as Muhammad Deen dead and his 25-year-old son Muhammad Jamil injured in Digwar village. In the same village, Tasneem Bibi, 34, her 12-year-old son Aqib, and Muhammad Javed, 35, were also injured, he added. He said one Wali Mohammad was injured in the village Keirni in Nezapir sector. The injured persons were being evacuated to a military run health facility in Forward Kahuta, the district headquarters of Haveli, he said. DC Hussain said that soon after the beginning of shelling he had ordered the closure of all education institutions in vulnerable areas to avert any casualties of students and teachers. Residents said panic had gripped the areas along the LoC due to intense shelling from across the divide.
A 10-year-old boy was killed and five civilians injured in cross-border firing in India’s Poonch sector, officials claimed.
The boy was killed early allegedly in cross-bordering firing by Pakistani soldiers in India-held Kashmir, police claimed.
On Friday, two civilians and a soldier were killed, and another three soldiers injured in Nezapir sector of Haveli district by heavy Indian shelling. According to official figures, in 2017 to date, Indian forces have carried out more than 873 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the Shahadats of 41 innocent civilians and injuries to 148, as compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016. It is very deplorable that India is not only involved in severe human rights violations in occupied Kashmir but also deliberately targeting civilian population in Azad Kashmir. Despite repeated efforts international community is not paying attention on India’s hostile attitude and aggression on LoC and in occupied Kashmir. Azad Kashmir government should made appropriate arrangements to protect civilian population adjacent to Line of Control from unprovoked Indian firing and should take steps to facilitate victims. Government of Pakistan should leave no stone unturned to expose Indian’s hostilities in Occupied Kashmir and LoC before international community and keep seeking tangible measures to stop Indian’s belligerence.
