KARACHI : School staff and students on Monday refused to bow down before powerful land mafia and registered protest by resuming educational activities on rubble of the 86-year-old Jufelhurst Government School. The school faculty and students also chanted slogans against the culprits involved.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mohammad Hussain also visited the site and alleged that demolition was carried out under supervision of area’s SHO.
Meanwhile, Sindh IG AD Khawaja has appointed Additional IG Aftab Pathan as investigation officer and has summoned report in this regard within three days. Khawaja said that case has been lodged and culprit would be soon brought to justice soon.
People who carried out this heinous activity, whether policemen or common men, would not be spared, announced Khawaja.
It should be recalled that claimants of property had flattened the house and two classrooms of the building late Saturday night.
In 1928, a lady named Jufelhurst had donated land for the school building. She also built her 500-yard residence in the school boundary.
As per notification, multiple structures in the area around Jufelhurst Government Girls/Boys School were listed as protected heritage sites under the Sindh Culture and Heritage (Preservation) Act, 1994.
