Karachi : Former Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has challenged his detention in the Accountability Court (AC).
According to media reports, former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon and others appeared before Karachi Accountability Court in 6 billion corruption case while Sharjeel Memon has challenged his arrest in the AC.
Suspect prayed the court that it should declare his detention illegal because on October 23, no warrants were issued for his arrest.
Suspect’s Counsel Amir Raza Naqvi took the plea that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had misguided court in showing arrest of Sharjeel Memon and other accused besides speaking lie that suspects were held from passport office while arrests were made from court premises.
NAB also gave wrong statement about Sindh High Court orders, therefore, action should be taken against it on this count, counsel for Sharjeel Memon said.
Counsel further said that according to NAB statement, arrest of others suspects’ too is against law while suspects should be given B Class facility in the jail.
On the other hand, NAB Prosecutor said that non-bailable arrest warrants had been issued in the case and warrant was suspended temporarily due to grant of interim bail and it became restored on expiry of bail period.
