London: AJK President, Sardar Masood Khan, met Andrew Griffiths MP, Lord Commissioner of H.M treasury at his office in London
The President updated him on the current human rights situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). He sought British government’s support to stop human right abuses of the Kashmiri people by the Indian security forces. The President also appreciated the proposal of the British parliamentarians to send cross-party delegation to both sides of Kashmir so that the facts about human rights situation could be ascertained.
The President pointed out the apathy demonstrated by the international community towards the Kashmiris. He also urged the MP to ask British Prime Minister to raise the issue of human rights violations in Kashmir with her Indian counterpart during her upcoming visit to India. Mr. Andrew Griffiths appreciated the importance of President’s visit to the United Kingdom and showed concern on deteriorating human rights situation in Kashmir.
He stated that the international community should encourage and facilitate resolution of the Kashmir dispute. Besides, the President participated in a round table discussion with policy influential at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). Later, President Masood Khan gave interviews to the BBC TV and Radio, and highlighted human rights situation in Kashmir.
In the evening the President addressed two community gatherings and an educational conference in Birmingham. The focus of the President’s meetings is to highlight to the world the Indian atrocities and rights abuses in the IOK.
