Neelum Valley: (Parliament Times) In a bid to assist families across LoC, Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Friday established District Branch Neelum for effective community resilience, CBDRR (Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction), health & hygiene, Mine Risk Education (MRE), First Aid and Restoring Family Links (RFL) programs with the support of international donors.
PRC Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi laid the foundation stone of PRCS District Branch Neelum. PRCS AJK Branch Chairman Dr Sardar Mehmood Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Neelum Valley, Ch Muhammad Farid, Secretary PRCS AJK State Branch Raja Shoaib Hussain, Members PRCS AJK managing committee Yousaf Qureshi, Parsaa Sabbahat, Raja Mazhar Waheed, Secretary Neelum Branch Musharraf Hussain and others were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Saeed Elahi said that PRCS will continue playing its role for the betterment of the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the establishment of PRCS district branch will be a permanent network in Neelum to assist families across LoC. “The establishment of district branch Bagh in December 2016 and now in Neelum beside the presence of AJK State branch at Muzaffarabad, is an example that PRCS is always there to support those who need the mostâ€, Saeed Elahi said.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that all aforementioned PRCS initiatives are running successfully in three divisions of AJK including Mirpur, Poonch and Muzaffarabad. He said more than 45,000 people in 10 districts of AJK have benefitted from PRCS programs and the number of beneficiaries is continuously rising as the organization extending its network throughout the state. “We will continue supporting the people of AJK and will leave no stone unturned in expanding our humanitarian services to the vulnerable population living in far flung areas of the state provinceâ€, he added.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman PRCS AJK State Branch Dr Sardar Mehmood Ahmed Khan said that establishment of PRC district branch Neelum will provide cover to all vulnerable people of the district. “ By distributing relief items among the affected families of LoC, PRC has proved that its connection with the people of AJK is imperative and long-lasting and it will further strengthen in days to come â€, he added.
Secretary PRCS AJK State Branch Raja Shoaib Hussain welcomed the guests and gave a detailed presentation on the activities of PRCS in AJK. He said that the presence of Chairman PRCS Dr Saeed Elahi among us was a proof that the development of the people of AJK was his priorities. The PRCS AJK State Branch has chalked out a plan to expend its network in all the districts of AJK, he added. A volunteer of PRCS from Multan, Saith Farooq pledged Rs. 100,000/- for PRCS District Branch Neelum.
