Islamabad: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has imposed a ban on foreign qualified MBBS doctors for doing house job in private and government hospitals at Pakistan. .
According to orders issued by acting registrar of PMDC such students have to complete one-year clinical internship from the country they have received their medical degree or else they will not be registered in PMDC as doctors.
This rule would not be applicable to the students who have done their internship before April 2017.
Completion of five and a half year educational period will be mandatory for foreign qualified MBBS doctors for registration with PMDC and they will be required to pass National Examination Board (NEB) examination.
PMDC president Prof Dr Shabbir Ahmad while talking at a private TV channel said that the reason behind ban is that foreign medical colleges are receiving million of rupees for issuance of degrees but they don’t allow them house job in their respective countries and send them to Pakistan for house job.
