People observe shutdown in Kupwara against civilian killing

Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Kupwara district, today, against the killing of a civilian by Indian forces, yesterday.

The civilian, Muhammad Yousuf Butt, was killed at Panzgam in the district when Indian forces’ personnel opened fire on peaceful demonstrators who were protesting against a siege and search operation in the area.

Meanwhile, the puppet authorities imposed restrictions in different areas of the district to prevent people from staging demonstrations against the killing. The authorities deployed Indian troops and police personnel in strength across the district and imposed restrictions in Kupwara town, Kralpora, Trehgam and Lalpora Sogam areas.

On the other hand, Indian police and troops launched a massive siege and search operation in Kralpora and Trehgam areas of the district.
