“Says development of tourism sector must not affect natural environment”
Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Farooq Haider has said that Manshera, Muzaffarabad to Mirpur (MMM) Express Way will boost tourism in the State.
Prime Minister expressed these views while addressing a session of Tourism department here on Friday. Ministers Mushtaq Minhas, Mrs. Noreen Arif, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev.) Syed Asif Hussain Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue Fayyaz Ali Abbasi, Secretary Tourism Mansoor Qadir Dar, Secretary Forests Syed Zahoor ul Hassan Gillani and other officials were present in the meeting. Prime Minister was apprised of the feasibility report of 195 kilometer international standard road for Tourism corridor with projected cost of 6.4 million and all tourists’ spots will be linked to this corridor road.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister said, “Government is committed for the development of tourism sector, this sector was completely ignored by previous governments. All main roads within the State are in process of up-gradation as these are in priority of incumbent government; however, government is also focused on reconstruction of effected link roads.”
Prime Minister reiterated that all resources were being utilized to enhance tourism within the State. He maintained that mountain economy can steer the masses towards prosperity.
Prime Minister has directed the tourism department that investments made for the development of tourism sector should not affect natural environment. “All visitors should be provided facilities including subsidy; Tourist guides should be set up and focus on the development and promotion of local crafts in tourism” Prime Minister added.
