Islamabad: Women of Pakistan have brought pride to the country in various fields, whether politics, literature, technology or even sports.
A young athlete from Khyber Agency is one such woman who dreams of bringing Pakistan’s name to the top.
Muskaan Afridi, said to be the first female archer of Khyber Agency, aspires to represent Pakistan internationally.
Winner of countless gold medals locally, Afridi came third in National Archery Championship previously and has been training and aiming for gold in the upcoming championship.
According to her, there are only a few facilities available for women and girls who wish to take up archery.
For training Afridi has to travel to Peshawar.
Archery, a very technical and expensive game, requires countless hours of training. But without any government plans to expand its budget for the promotion of the sport, the number of skilled players to represent their country will be reduced.
Afridi will be representing Khyber Agency in the upcoming national games. Her story could further inspire more girls to play for their region and country.
