SHARJAH: Skipper Peshawar Zalmi Darren Sammy said that his team did not put enough total on the scoreboard and the fielding was not good enough to win their important match against Islamabad United on Saturday.
Speaking in a press conference after the last-ball thriller, Sammy said that the Islamabad United opener Dwayne Smith was the main difference between the two teams, however, he gave credit to his bowlers for the way they put up a good fight in a low-scoring target.
“Everybody fought today. Zalmi bowled well,†he said. “We took it to the last over, I think we should have won, but a few mischances here and there cost us in the end. I think we should have got more runs.â€
“We gave Smith two chances and he was there till the end,†he lamented.
On the question of why he was not bowling in the matches, he said that as the team have specialist bowlers, he prefers to give them the ball but if the situation demands, he wouldn’t mind bowling a few overs.
The former West Indies T20 captain concluded his presser by saying that he does not want to blame anyone for the game.
“We lose as a team we win as a team but we still got the game to the very last ball which was really good,†he said.
