Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the Kupwara operation, which was launched by the forces on Tuesday, entered into its sixth day on Sunday.
Local people said it is one of the biggest search operations of the year. They said that different units of Indian army, police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off an area from Lolab valley to Keran and started search operation.
The army also launched operation in Marhama, Doli Pora, Kachhama, Firekiyan and other villages. They have blocked the roads of Loneharay, Malyan, Reshigund and Zurhama and are checking all passenger and public vehicles on the roads, according to the local residents.
The people also said that the army fired thousands of mortar shells in Zurhama forests.
Residents said the army has installed mobile checkpoints on all the major roads of the district from Handwara to Keran and the Lolab valley. This is one of the big operations the forces have launched against the militants.
