Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, a youth who was injured in firing by Indian troops on April 9, on the polling day for sham Indian parliamentary elections in Srinagar constituency, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar, today. The 20 year-old youth, identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Mir was critically injured when Indian troops fired bullets at Baroosa in Ganderbal district and succumbed to his injuries at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar, today.
Muzaffar Ahmad Mir was a resident of Zangalpora in Kulgam district. He was a labourer by profesison. Pertinently, on the same day in Baroosa, another youth identified as Omar Farooq, 22, a trucker was injured.
The death of the youth triggered spontaneous shutdown in Baroosa and adjoining areas in Ganderbal district. The shopkeepers downed their shutters after the news of Muzaffar Ahmad Mir’s death spread in the area. The youth appeared in the main chowk and pelted stones on the forces’ vehicles.
Meanwhile, students from different schools in Baramulla, Ganderbal and Bandipora districts staged protests against the Indian forces’ brutalities.The students of Higher Secondary School Palhalan and Ajas area of Bandipora blocked Srinagar-Baramulla road to protest against the use of force on students.
Similarly, students of Delina area of Baramulla, Nadihal and Kangan marched on the streets and staged sit-ins in the areas. The troops used force on in Bomai area of Sopore.
