Islamabad: (Parliament Times)  Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has assured to support to AJK government in its demand for increased share in federal taxes. AJK is not a formal member of the NFC but it is receiving 2.27 % in the NFC award. Assurance to this effect was given to Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider by Chief Minister at Pakhtunkhwa during at KPK House in Islamabad.
The Chief Minister KPK assured supporting Azad Jammu & Kashmir at proper forum and said people of both regions are tied together with common history, culture and traditions. The CM said our elders rendered sacrifices for liberation of Kashmir during Kashmir war in 1947-48. AJK Premier said that all political parties of Pakistan always supported Kashmiris right to self determination accordance with United Nations resolutions. All the governments and people of Pakistan stood united for political, moral and diplomatic support of Kashmir Cause.He recalled the role of Pushtoons in 1947 against Dogra regime and paid tributes to their historical sacrifices.
Pervez Khattak said his province is also negotiating its case for enhancing its shares in the incoming NFC award. On the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Minister said “we welcome the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The existing system should be extended to FATAâ€, Any new experiment was not required and may not succeed because the people of FATA were accustomed to the existing Pakistani laws. Even the local government system of the province could also be extended there, he added.
Referring to the rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure devastated by the earthquake the chief Minister said that the federal government did not pay for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of schools and other infrastructure of social services devastated by the earthquake in Hazara division. The province with its own resources constructed 600 schools out of 2500 schools.
The Chief Minister said his Government made a record legislation and brought reforms to revamp the system in the province. Our efforts were resisted by the forces of status quo but we emerged triumphant against the forces of status quo. He said the government eliminated political interference in public sector institutions making them subservient to the will of the people and the reforms system started giving relief to the people.
Chief Minister said that the misrule in the past set wrong traditions and now the corrupt were raising accusing fingers at the honest. This attitude created a lot of confusion. This country is to be tracked at right path and the system is to be revamped and political interference in public sector institutions is to be discouraged as there is no room for talking non sense in politics that deluded the people. The Chief Minister recounted its government efforts for efficient services in the social sector through different programmes adding that politics is to be done and seen in the context of public welfare. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government set new style of open governance in the province.
Chief Minister said his government successfully experimented the devolution of resources and power plan at grass root level and transferred more than 35 billion out of the 115 billion total ADP of the province to the devolved system. The system was designed to give relief to the people through developmental strategy at local level. We have to work around the clock and that too efficiently for the cause of serving the people. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spent more than 35 billion on fixing and providing missing facilities in the public sector educational institutions making them efficient to compete with private schooling system in the province.
Pervez Khattak said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government was all set to start work on the rapid bus transit Peshawar that will provide one solution to all the traffic congestion in Peshawar. Chief Minister lamented that public welfare activities and reforms are some time delayed by the unnecessary litigation.
Pervez Khattak shared tips with PM AJK for good governance, reforms and local government system and forestation adding that the experiment he made in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had encouraging results and therefore should be replicated for the benefit of the people. The Prime Minister of AJK also appreciated the sacrifices of Chief Minister family and the whole Pashtoons for liberating of Azad Jammu & Kashmir from the klatches of India adding that “we value the support of Pashoonsâ€.
Chief Minister assured deployment at four bridges including Kohala on the side of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also assured carpeting of roads going through the area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and connecting Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. He assured to work for the people of Azad Kashmir without any political consideration. Speaker KPK Assembly Asad Qaisar was also present on the occasion
