By Khizar Hayat Abbasi

Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) President Free Kashmir Organization (FKO), a Berlin based Kashmir lobbyist group Dr. Muhammad Siddique condemned Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir and unprovoked shelling by its forces on Line of Control (LoC).

Talking to this scribe on telephone he expressed his grave concern over gross violation of human rights and use of unprecedented force against innocent people by Indian forces after the martyrdom of a young freedom fighter Burhan Wani in the held territory.

Referring to recent Indian firing from across the Line of control, he said Indian Army was constantly violating the LoC causing huge damage to life and property of the people in Azad Kashmir which he said was a matter of great concern for Kashmiris living on both sides of LoC and all over the world. He said the people of AJK were depressed over the prevailing circumstances of India held Kashmir where the armed forces are using lethal pellet guns to suppress civil resistances of the people and for the last more than three months100 people have been killed, hundreds have been blind and thousands are injured.

The FKO president urged the United Nations and other influential countries of the world to intervene and stop India from doing such inhuman atrocities and violations of LoC which may trigger war in the region. Expressing his concern over intentional targeting of civil population of Azad Kashmir by Indian forces at line of control, Dr Siddique said that loss of lives and property is cause of serious uneasiness for us.

The FKO President also acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to raise the issue at different international forums particularly at United Nations and paid tribute to him through the resolution

He said that FKO would take up the matter with European leaders and government with request to prevail upon India for immediate stoppage of ceasefire violations by India. Replying a question about the role of his Organization, Dr Siddique said Free Kashmir Organization is working with Members of European Parliament, human rights organizations and other like- minded people to highlight Kashmir issue in its real perspective.

He further said besides working for Kashmir cause, Free Kashmir Organization is also playing crucial role for socio-economic development of Azad Kashmir by supporting education- focused initiative of the government and non- governmental organization and extending support to the vulnerable segments of the society
