Brussels: “Women in IHK worst victims of conflictâ€Brussels: A two-day International Conference and Workshop on role of Kashmiri women titled; “Educating Women for Peace and Democracy in South Asian Prospective†would be held on May 10-11 at European Parliament in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. Pertinently, Kashmir Council-EU is organizing the event in collaboration with Friends of Kashmir Group based in the EU Parliament. First day of the event has been allocated for the conference which would be attended and addressed by a number of parliamentarians, human rights activists, experts and intellectuals from different countries. On second and last day of the event delegates in the workshop would discus and deliberate on the role of women specially in educating them for peace and democracy. Chairman Kashmir Council EU Mr Ali Raza Syed said, the objective of this event is to highlight the role of women in South Asian prospective specially women living in the conflict zone of Kashmir in order to learn from the experiences of western women in bringing peace and democracy in their regions. The role of women he said was very important for peace building and democracy and they can make the society better through their specific role. Syed said that women in Indian Held Kashmir were among the people of Kashmir suffering from the severe situation of that region. “We believe in peaceful promotion of the rights and freedoms in all parts of the world including Kashmirâ€, he said. He expressed the optimism that the conference would contribute towards the richness of the debate and strength of the demands by the women of Kashmir.
