Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Expressing his concern over the exclusion of minorities from census Mr. Isphanyar Bhandara member National Assembly has said that the recent census was yet another example of the injustice and discrimination against minorities in Pakistan.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Isphanyar Bhandara said, “Pakistan was created equally for Muslims and minorities who decided to live here; a country which promised equal rights for every citizen irrespective of his or her class, creed, faith or religion. But unfortunately, the current situation cannot be more farther from truthâ€.
Mr. Isphanyar Bhandara who is also member of national assembly while raising his voice on this issue said, “The recent census is yet another example of the injustice and discrimination against minorities in Pakistan.. Minorities are once again excluded in Census 2017.
Mr. Bhandara who has always been very vocal and active on rights of minorities expressed his serious concern on the issue. He further stated that the staff assigned the task of carrying out census was not even aware of the minorities and were also not provided the required information and training.
Mr. Bhandara urged that the actual figures regarding minorities must be included in the Census 2017 results. He has also demanded from the Chief Election Commissioner to release the details on number of minorities so that all national policies and plans are formulated keeping in view the rights of minorities.
