Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The former convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Pak chapter and vice president of democratic freedom Party, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar while terming the Enforcement Directorate’s charge sheet against senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmed Shah as a pack of lies has said such tactics would not deter Shah from pursuing the cause of freedom from Indian subjugation.
In a statement issued here on Monday the former APHC convener said that India cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle for securing their right to self-determination through use of brutal tactics. He said that the so called NIA and Enforcement Directorate were used by New Delhi as a weapon of war against pro-freedom leadership with its main objective to terrorise them besides damaging their public image. Terming Kashmiris’ ongoing struggle as an indigenous legitimate struggle Saghar said that India by resorting to such mean tactics was hell bent on to malign the indigenous character of the freedom struggle for which Kashmiris have rendered match less sacrifices over the past several years.
“Since New Delhi has miserably failed to suppress Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination it has started a vicious campaign against the pioneering leaders of the movementâ€, he said adding that India must bear in fact that DFP president Shabir Ahmed Shah is the man who dedicated his entire life for the cause of Kashmir. “Jails, interrogations, torture and persecution won’t deter him from pursuing the cause of freedom for which he spent 30 years of his life in Indian jailsâ€, the DFP leader said.
Saghar said that India would never succeed to suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing their right to self-determination through use of brute force. He said that settlement of the Kashmir dispute under the UN resolutions was imperative for ensuring durable peace in South Asia. Demanding early release of party chairman Shabir Ahmed Shah and other Hurriyat leaders Saghar appealed to the world human rights organizations to take serious notice of the illegal detention of Shabir Ahmed Shah and use their good offices to ensure his full protection and early release.
