Neelum AJK:(Parliament Times) Terming Pakistan and government of AJK as strong proponents and defenders of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir the president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan has said that we won’t allow any change in the basic frame-work and status of Kashmir issue.Talking to journalist community of Neelum Valley here on Friday the president said that the unanimously adopted resolutions on Kashmir by the UN and Untied Nations Security Council were still applicable and practicable. Rejecting division of Kashmir propaganda Khan said that division of the state “is not agenda of the government of Pakistanâ€.Urging Kashmiri people not to pay heed to any propaganda over the division of Kashmir, the president said that it could be a part of conspiracy aimed at sabotaging the ongoing multibillion CPEC project in the region. The supreme sacrifices rendered by Kashmir people he said have brought Kashmir into lime light at international level.With regard to purported reports of converting Gilgit Baltistan as fifth province the AJK president said, “We won’t support any such moveâ€. Referring to existing relationship between Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, he said that people of both the regions enjoy great relationship and “we won’t let this relationship be weakened at any costâ€.Khan said that the AJK premier’s stance on the issue of Kashmir was clear that the issue must be projected at international level in its true historical perspective. He however, maintained that the UN Security Council’s indifference and lack of interest in resolving the dispute of Kashmir was not only regrettable but travesty of justice.Moved by the scenic beauty of Neelum valley Khan said that scenic beauty, fascinating views of the valley present a picture of real paradise. Lauding the people of region he said that people of this beautiful valley have gone through trials and tribulations over the past several years due to cross LoC firing by Indian occupation Forces.Paying rich tributes to their resilience and sacrifices the president said that residents of the Neelum Valley suffered terribly due to intermittent shelling and braved Indian naked aggression courageously. He also hailed the Pakistan Army for standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of the region during testing times.
Replying to a query he said, “Kashmiris are a peace loving nation and they don’t want any kind of war but it were the occupation forces that have been unleashing rein of terror in occupied Kashmir and violating ceasefire by resorting to heavy shelling on the LoCâ€.He said that Pakistan’s support to Kashmir cause remained steadfast despite many daunting challenges. “Now that the situation in the region is gradually improving, environment at global level is turning in favour of Pakistan and government has overcome major challenges to economy then why should Pakistan deviate from its principled stance on the issue of Jammu and Kashmirâ€, he said.Khan said that under CPEC many projects were being launched in the region. He said that construction of alternative route was imperative to connect the Neelum valley with other parts of AJK and Pakistan. He said that government was also contemplating on the proposed plan of constructing Astoor Neelum route to ensure broader connectivity between the two regions of the state. He said that the tourism department in the region can’t flourish without promoting tourism in Neelum Valley. He said that the government would also use all its resource to provide better facilities to the people living in the area.
