Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, human rights activist, Khurram Pervez, has said that the desecration of bodies of killed youth by Indian troops is highly condemnable and is considered a big offence under international laws.
A video, which appeared on social media on Thursday evening, shows the Indian soldiers posing for pictures with their feet upon the bodies of two youth after killing them in Nowgam area of Srinagar. The video was probably shot by one of the soldiers that killed the youth during a military operation.
Khurram Pervez in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “It’s highly condemnable under Geneva conventions but here in Kashmir, forces are committing it just like it is a normal because nobody has opposed them.â€
He said the violations of the act have not occurred for the first time. The troops have been captured on video desecrating the bodies of mujahideen after killing them. A few months ago a video went viral on social media showing forces firing bullets on the bodies of two mujahideen that had been killed in a siege and search operation.
