Islamabad: Former Senior Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry Khalid Chaudhry has called upon the officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) to expedite the development work in the commercial markets of the federal capital so that the people can spend their time in shopping without any difficulty.
Khalid Chaudhry said CDA has not upgraded markets since long and due to deteriated conditions of the roads and infrastructure in the markets, business community is facing lot of problems in running business activities.Addressing representatives of various markets here, he said many sectors in Islamabad including G-7, F-6, G-6 and G-8 were developed about 20 to 25 years ago and due to lack of proper maintenance, their condition has deteriorated.
He said that state of sanitation is pathetic as gutters are seen overflowing in many markets and CDA is paying no attention to remedy the situation. The only sewerage machine with the CDA is also lying faulty, he added. He said many markets are without toilet facilities while the condition of available toilets is very pathetic as these are not being supervised properly.
Khalid Chaudry said CDA is collecting sufficient tax revenue from business centers, but instead of utilizing tax money on the development of markets, this money is used somewhere else and the end result is that markets are presenting a bad look.
He said the current sewerage and water supply systems are more than 40 years old and are now unable to meet the needs of rising population which has increased four times.
He appealed to CDA Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, to look into the issue of lack of basic facilities in the local markets and ensure to resolve the problems of the markets.
