Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the residents and civil society of Budgam district have demanded immediate release of Shahid Yousuf, the son of Hizbul Mujahideen Chief, Syed Salahuddin.
The civil society members in a statement said that despite promise made by the puppet Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, assuring his release, nothing has been done so far in this regard.
A 22-member delegation of civil society from Budgam district had met Mehbooba Mufti on October 28 at her residence in Srinagar. The delegation had stressed upon her that while the clan of Syed Salahuddin was known for their religious, educational and social services in the area since decades, therefore, Shahid Yousuf should be released.
The delegates said that Syed Salahuddin had left his family 28 years ago and his children were brought up and educated by their late mother despite many hardships. They apprised the puppet Chief Minister that they were witness to the past and present of the family and how they suffered and survived during the past three decades.
The delegation while praising Syed Shahid Yousuf as a noble and humble human being also stressed that the charges leveled against him by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) were far from reality. The puppet Chief Minister after hearing the delegation promised that she would personally put efforts to bail out Syed Shahid Yousuf.
The civil society of Budgam district, however, expressed deep anguish and disappointment at the court pronouncement to send Shahid Yousuf to judicial custody till November 27.
Meanwhile, the puppet authorities have suspended Syed Shahid Yousuf from his agriculture department job 10 days after he was arrested by the NIA in a fake case. Shahid Yousuf, 42, was posted as agricultural officer in Budgam when he was arrested by the NIA on October 24.
The order, which was issued by Director of Agriculture Altaf Andrabi, said Shahid Yousuf is deemed to have been suspended from the date of his arrest.
