Balochistan launches FP2020 Working Group to achieve family planning goals

Quetta: The Provincial Government formally launched FP2020 working group on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Quetta to gauge the progress on family planning goals in the province.In his welcome remarks the secretary Population Welfare Department thanked Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Speaker Balochistan Assembly for her support to chair the Balochistan FP2020 Working Group. He also appreciated the efforts of the Population Council and UNFPA towards the formation of FP2020 Working Group in the Balochistan Province.Mr Noor ulHaqBa;och, Secretary Population Welfare Department, presented Balochistan’s FP2020 commitments for achieving FP2020 goals and shared the Progress made so far and highlighted the opportunities to further accelerate the family planning efforts in the province. Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, Speaker Balochistan Assembly formally made announcement of launch of Balochsitan FP2020
Working Group and assured that the Balochsitan government is fully committed to improve maternal and child health indicators in the province.The objective of this workinggroup is to oversee coordination between various stakeholders on accelerating family planning program in the province and to review progress on family planning related initiative in the province by various stakeholders. The Balochistan FP2020 WG will also collaborate with other provincial FP2020 groups to adopt their success stories in the Balochistan province In this launch meeting it was decided that next meeting of this working group will be held during second week of next month i.e. September 2017 to discuss progress on PC-1 and on costed implementation plan of population welfare program of Balochistan.
