Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) In order to contain the possible threats of Swine flu virus, the provincial government of Punjab has put all government hospitals including three allied hospitals of Rawalpindi on high alert.
Talking to the news agency , Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, M.S Benazir Bhutto hospital told that although no swine flu case has been reported yet in Rawalpindi anyhow, it was a lethal and life taking virus. He said special counters have been set up in emergency wards and OPD in government hospital to tackle Swine flu virus while awareness banners and pamphlets have been displayed.
He said vigorous awareness campaign against the swine flu has been launched besides ensuring availability of medicines for treatment of suspected patients. He informed that Swine flu virus is a life taking virus, which easily transmits from one person to another. He told that threats of the virus increase manifold with change of weather and dry cold. He said precautionary measures are necessary in this disease to contain it at the earliest.
Dr. Zafar told that flu, cough, fever and other symptoms can lead to pneumonia, which can also damage the lungs and victim can die due to breath problems. He urged the residents to adopt preventive measures, in this respect.
Moreover, MS DHQ Dr. Khalid also confirmed that no Swine flu patient has been admitted in the hospital while Punjab government has provided all facilities to combat the deadly virus. He said sufficient stock of medicine was available with the hospital while staffers have been put on high alert for emergency situation.
