Muzaffarabad: Urging the OIC to take up the Kashmir issue at the United Nations, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Tuesday asked the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take steps for the economic blockade of India on the ever increasing human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Addressing the meeting of the OIC contact group on Jammu Kashmir at Abidjan Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, the AJK Prime Minister paid tribute to people of Occupied Kashmir for rendering unmatched sacrifices in their struggle against Indian occupation.
Khan strongly condemned and deplored the continued terrorism by India in the Occupied Kashmir and noted that the unresolved Kashmir dispute continues to threaten the peace and security of the region. He emphasized that the conflict can only be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people and the United Nations (UN) Security Council resolutions. He further said no one could accept the attempts of associating Kashmiris with terrorism.
He stressed that Kashmiris were striving hard to achieve their inalienable right to self-determination in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.
The Prime Minister reiterated the AJK and Pakistan governments would continue diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle against illegal Indian occupation. He also deplored that the Indian atrocities in the region since July 2016, particularly the use of pellet guns to deliberately damage the eyes of the youth.
The AJK PM said that India had been using a typical Israeli strategy to suppress the ongoing liberation struggle in Occupied Kashmir. “We appeal to the OIC, to take up deteriorating human rights violations situation at United Nations and also take steps for the economic boycott of New Delhi to put pressure on India for the solution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions.
He also condemned the US administration’s decision of designating Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Syed Salah ud Din as a global terrorist. AJK minister for Education Barrister Iftikhar Gillani was also present on the occasion.
