Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan while appreciating the decision regarding the expansion of BISP Waseela-e-Taleem (WeT) to Neelum and Haveli districts in AJK has said that the important initiatives undertaken by the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in eradicating poverty and empowering the women were highly remarkable.
The AJK PM made these remarks while talking to the BISP chairperson Marvi Memon who called on him here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion PM Khan said BISP was launched by the previous government but the PML-N government not only carried forward this programme but also allocated huge funds to facilitate a large poverty-stricken population all across the country. “We welcome the decision regarding the expansion of BISP Waseela-e-Taleem (WeT) to Neelum and Haveli districts”, he said adding that people of both the districts have suffered terribly due to cross LoC shelling by Indian forces.
He expressed the hope that the BISP’s poverty resurvey project would be instrumental in making it all inclusive whereby needy and poverty-stricken people could be benefited. Raja Farooq Haider said that during BISP’s poverty resurvey project special priority would be given to the women living in villages adjacent to LoC to mitigate their sufferings. He also lauded the contribution and untiring efforts of BISP chairperson Marvi Memon in making it a success. Marvi Memon on the occasion briefed the AJK PM about the over all achievements and future plans of the BISP
