Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) AJK Prime Raja Farooq Haider Khan has urged the concerned authorities to adopt a comprehensive plan to tackle with the natural disasters. Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the World Civil Defence Day here on Wednesday, he said people must be taken onboard while evolving strategy on disaster risk reduction. The AJK Prime Minister said that better planning and strategy on disaster risk management can minimize the losses during any natural calamity. He said all available resources would be provided to Rescue 1122 to effectively deal with the emergencies. Raja Farooq Haider Khan directed Civil Defence officials to fully equip Rescue 1122 service on modern line. The AJK Prime Minister also inspected the modern ambulance service of Rescue 1122.
The prime Minister on the occasion handed over the keys of newly purchased vehicles for Rescue 1122 to the concerned officials from Rawalakot, Hattian and Kotli. Member Legislative Assembly Raja Muhammad Siddique, Principal secretary Ehsan Khalid Kiani, Secretary SDMA, Zaheer Querashi, Director General Civil Defence, Khalid Mahmood Mirza and others officials were also present on the occasion. The Prime Minister on the occasion directed the officials of Rescue 1122 to keep all ambulances operational conditions to meet any eventuality in the state. He said that government will take appropriate steps for provision of more ambulances to the Rescue 1122 so that injured could be transportated to the hospitals within no time in case of any emergency. He said network of Rescuee 1122 would be expanded up to all over Azad Kashmir to facilitate the people of All districts in the state. The Prime Minister expressed his resolve to provide all resources to the emergency service on priority basis.
Meanwhile a function was held here in connection with the World Civil Defence Day under the auspicious of AJK Civil Defence Department here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Warden Civil Defence Organization Syed Shakeel Gillani and others said the government is making concrete efforts to upgrade the existing infrastructure of the department to meet any natural calamity.
They said the department is being equipped with all the modern facilities to save lives and properties of the masses in emergencies. The Speakers called for creating awareness among the masses regarding importance of civil defence. They renewed pledge to utilize all resources for the safety of masses in emergencies and war time. A large number of Civil Defence volunteers and people belonging to different walks of life participated in the function.
