Rawalpindi: Acting Commissioner, Talat Mehmood Gondal has claimed that due to efforts of the concerned departments Dengue situation is under control in Rawalpindi.
He recalled that during the last year, daily reported affected patients were 80 to 90 which through effective measures have curtailed now to 4 or 5 patients per day. Currently, only 35 dengue patients belonging to Rawalpindi district are under treatment and none has lost his/her life to dengue yet, he said in a statement issued here Tuesday.
Talat Mehmood Gondal said that efforts to eradicate Dengue menace in Rawalpindi are going on successfully as in 2015, 3303 dengue patients were on record which has shown remarkable decrease in number to 1106 cases in 2016. In contrast to these two years, 2017 has witnessed only 191 patients so far which is surely the result of pre-planning, prevention activities and Dengue surveillance amid off-season, he shared.
He further added that the corresponding number of dengue patients last year was 20 which during this year has been less than the average of five patients per day. He said not more than 10 patients maximum were reported during 2017 in contrary to the last years’ 32 or more patients a day. He said that effective measurements taken against dengue virus at the adjoining borders of twin cities has yielded positive outcomes by commendably sparing almost 400 patients from these territories as not a solitary case has been accounted for from here up till now.
Sharing the details further, Talat Mehmood Gondal said that overall 305 confirmed cases have been reported in Allied Hospitals of Rawalpindi out of which 152 belonged to District Rawalpindi. He compared the situation with previous year and said that on October 2016, 305 patients were under treatment whereas today only 35 patients are going through treatment and rest have been discharged after efficacious cure also not a single causality has occurred in Rawalpindi due to Dengue this year. 15222 houses have been sprayed during this month of October alone whereas 4433 fogging activities have been carried out likewise overall 161 FIRs have been registered on non-following SOPs of Dengue and 237 sealing of premises on detection of Dengue Larva have been done with imposition of fine of Rs 968000, he included.
Moreover, Acting Commissioner Rawalpindi Tallat Mehmood Gondal added that some fact and figures with regard to revealing of Dengue patients are thoroughly deceptive as auspiciously with the cumulative endeavors Dengue is under control entirely in Rawalpindi. He said that the hospitals are well equipped to cope and treat with the dengue affected patients and all the three or four patients reported daily are being provided with full medical facilities.
