Rawalpindi: On the direction of Director General Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Dr Malik Muhammad Abid over 100,000 marigold flowers are being planted in the Nawaz Sharif Park. Beds for the flowers are being prepared and the process will be completed in three weeks. One thousand trees have been grown during the last year and 3000 rose plants have also been planted in the park.
Assistant Director Nawaz Sharif Park, Shah Sohail said this while briefing on the up-gradation of the park. He said due to improvement in the park, 10, 000 visitors arrive in the park during weekdays, while on Fridays and Sundays 15,000 visitors arrive in the park. He said the PHA is striving to make Rawalpindi the city of flowers and the Nawaz Park is playing its due role in this regard. He said at the nursery of the park 400,000 to 500,000 sampling of flowers are produced that are used for the beautification of various parts of the city.
Assistant Director Nawaz Park Shah Sohail said many visitors enter the rose corner where 3000 rose plants have been grown to enjoy the serenity of the place.
